What is Satta King?

Satta King is the name used across North India for a group of daily number games in which one two-digit number from 00 to 99 is declared for each market. The biggest markets are Gali, Disawar, Faridabad and Ghaziabad. Here is how it works, when results come, and what is – and isn't – known about its history.
How a Satta King result works
- Each market declares one number between 00 and 99 once a day – for example Gali 47.
- There is no open, close or panna like in Mumbai Satta Matka: the whole result is that single two-digit number.
- The two digits are sometimes discussed separately: the first digit is called andar and the second bahar (also written haruf).
- Each market has a fixed time. Results for all markets are collected in a monthly Satta King chart.

Where does the name come from?
'Satta' means betting or speculation, and 'king' refers to the winner – people say someone 'became Satta King' when their number came. Disawar is widely said to be named after an area of old Delhi. Beyond that, the history is poorly documented: most accounts link it to the Mumbai matka culture of the 1960s (see our Ratan Khatri guide), but there is no reliable record of exactly when each Delhi market started. Our own records go back to January 2015 for Gali, Disawar, Faridabad and Ghaziabad.
Is Satta King legal?
No. Betting on Satta King is illegal in most of India under the Public Gambling Act, 1867 and state gambling laws. Many 'Satta King' websites and WhatsApp groups also sell 'leak' or 'fix' numbers – nobody can know a result in advance, and these sellers are scams.
